VietGAP stands for Vietnamese Good Agricultural Practices. For fruit and vegetables, the current standard is TCVN 11892-1:2017 (Part 1: Crop production).
What does the standard require?
It sets out how food crops are grown and prepared to ensure food safety, product quality, worker safety, environmental protection and traceability. Key requirement groups include:
- Irrigation water and growing media must meet quality requirements.
- Strict control of fertilisers and crop-protection chemicals.
- Clean harvesting and preparation. Raw-eaten vegetables must not touch the soil directly.
- Records kept so produce can be traced.
Why it matters for hotel and restaurant kitchens
- Lower food-safety risk for your guests.
- Easier to answer questions from guests or auditors about ingredient origin.
- Fits the purchasing requirements of many hotel groups.
